COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 2.26.24

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 2.26.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Northwest Community Alliance Monthly Meeting – 2.29.24

COPA attended the Northwest Community Alliance monthly meeting and was able to connect with Latino community organizations who were sharing valuable resources that they offer. COPA also provided information about our agency role in police accountability to the meeting attendees.

City of Chicago Job Fair Hosted by Chicago Aldermanic Black Caucus – 2.29.24
COPA attended the City of Chicago Job Fair, which was held at Kennedy King College and hosted by the Chicago Black Caucus. At this outreach event, COPA set up a resource table and shared its agency role in police misconduct to over 1,000 people.

ACERO Mental Health & Wellness Symposium – 2.29.24

COPA visited ACERO’s Mental Health and Wellness Symposium. During our agency time at this event, we set up a resource table and helped the public to understand the importance of police oversight.

CCPSA Monthly Meeting – 2.29.24
The Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) hosted its monthly community meeting to discuss updates to its agency, other city departments, and residents. At this meeting COPA was also able to set up a resource table to educate the public about our agency’s work.

Circuit Court Clerk in the Community – 3.2.24

On March 2, 2024, COPA attended the Circuit Court Clerk in the Community event held at the Mientras Haya Amor Hay Esperanza at Little Village Boxing and Community Center. COPA was able to set up a resource table and inform the public about our agency’s role in police accountability.
