COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 11.7.22

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago at several community events during the week of 11.7.22. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. November 7, 2022 – Intrinsic Schools Networking Night

COPA attended Intrinsic Schools Networking Night on Monday, November 7th. At this networking event COPA helped students understand the role of our agency, explained the importance of police oversight, and discussed career paths that students could consider if they wanted to work for COPA in the future.

November 8, 2022 – Leaders Network

COPA attended this month’s Leaders Network Community Meeting on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Columbus Park Refectory. Faith-based leaders and community stakeholders gather each month to discuss ways to better the west side through community action. November’s meeting included several speakers including Yolanda Fields (Breakthrough Urban Ministries) and Pastor Marshall Hatch (New Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church).

November 9, 2022 – TASC Chatham Parole Meeting

On November 9th COPA visited TASC Chatham parole office and discussed the importance of police oversight to a group of returning citizens learning about effective ways to overcome barriers to re-entry.
