COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 10.3.22

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 10.3.22

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago at several community events during the week of 10.3.22. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. If you are interested in COPA speaking to your community group or organization, please submit a request via email to

COPA Community Service Project: Bingo with Seniors 10/5/22
COPA has made an agency commitment to offer various community service projects for our staff. One of those efforts includes volunteering at the Department of Family and Support Services and Department of Aging West Town Senior Satellite Center. During our time at the office, COPA’s staff engaged with senior citizens by playing bingo with them. We plan to return two more times this month.

AETNA Better Health of Illinois Community Resource Fair & Fall Festival 10/6/22
COPA attended this Fall Festival Community Resource Fair hosted by Aetna Better Health of Illinois at La Casa Norte. We were able to connect with families and share the agency role in police accountability. This free community event offered health screenings, community resource tables, food, and activities for children.

Marshall Square Resource Network (MSRN) Fair & Peace Walk 10/7/22
COPA joined the Marshall Square Resource Network (MSRN) and Latinos Progresando to participate in a community resource fair and peace walk. This event was created to offer families in the area peace-promoting resources, food, music, and fun activities.
