COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 10.24.22

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago at several community events during the week of 10.24.22. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Centro Comunitario Juan Diego Resource Fair 10/24/22
COPA attended Centro Comunitario Juan Diego Resource Fair in South Chicago. At this outreach event COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct.

Mexican Consulate Meeting 10/25/22
COPA’s Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten and our agency Director of Public Affairs Carlos Rivas met with the Consulate General of Mexico Ambassador, the Director General of Consular Protection, and many more community organizations regarding civil and constitutional rights for Mexican nationals in Chicago.

Mobile City Hall 10/25/22
COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office at Smith Chicago Park District along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments were set up at resource tables to offer residents access to city services at this mobile event.

City of Chicago’s My Chi My Future Halloweek On The Block Community Event 10/28/22
COPA joined various city departments to help celebrate with young people and share with them information about city resources. This event titled, the City of Chicago’s My Chi My Future Halloweek On the Block Community Event was held at Michele Clark High School.

Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) 10/28/22
COPA’s Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten testified before residents and the members of the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) to explain our agency operations and the role that we play in police oversight.
