COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 1.8.24

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 1.8.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Leaders Network Community Meeting – 1.9.24
COPA attended this meeting comprised of faith and community leaders that work together to organize, strategize, and mobilize to improve the quality of life for the west side communities.

Centro Comunitario Juan Diego – 1.9.24
COPA had the opportunity to celebrate Centro Comunitario Juan Diego on their 30 years of serving the South Chicago community. This community center mission which began with Doña Olivia many decades ago was to provide help where help was needed.

DFSS Southwest Regional Senior Center Community Visit – 1.10.24
COPA visited this DFSS senior center to help residents in this community learn more about our agency mission and vision. During COPA’s visit we plan to also provide seniors with an overview of our agency, explain the importance of police oversight, and answer any questions that residents may have about our agency.

COPA visited this DFSS senior center to help residents in this community learn more about our agency mission and vision. Coalition For A Better Chinese American Community Resource Fair – 1.11.24
COPA attended this resource fair hosted by the Coalition For A Better Chinese American Community. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct.
