COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 1.30.23

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 1.30.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. COPA Faith Leaders Town Hall 1.31.23

COPA attended the Faith Leaders Town Hall meeting held at New Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in East Garfield Park. The town hall focused on policing and violence prevention in the city. The town hall featured members of the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability.

Marshall Square Resource Network (MSRN) Quarterly Community Meeting 2.1.23

COPA met virtually with over 70 community members at the Marshall Square Resource Network (MSRN) Quarterly Community Meeting hosted by Latinos Progresando. This event was created to increase the capacity and strength of stakeholders by collaborating to help improve conditions for the community in the Marshall Square neighborhood.

North Austin Community Center (NACC) Ribbon Cutting Grand Opening Ceremony 2.2.23

COPA attended the ribbon-cutting grand ceremony for North Austin Community Center (NACC). This community event celebration was supported by Grace & Peace Church, Intentional Sports, and By The Hands Club for Kids. The new facility will house after school and out of school programming for youth in North Austin.
