COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 04.21.25
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 04.21.25. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Aetna Better Health: Health & Resource Fair – April 21, 2025
COPA had a great time at the Aetna Better Health: Health & Resource Fair at Nazarene All Nations Church in the West Englewood community. The fair included several health resources, screenings, and information from local community organizations providing services. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file compliments and complaints towards CPD.

Earth Day Clean Up at Cameron Elementary School – April 22, 2024
COPA partnered with Alderman Gilber Villegas, ALSO (Alliance of Local Service Organizations), New Life Centers for the Cameron Elementary School Earth Day Clean Up. Members of COPA’s Service Committee including Interim Chief Administrator LaKenya White joined students to complete several projects. This event brought several community stakeholders together to take on trash clean up, mulching, and gardening as part of beautification projects for the school and surrounding community.

Citywide Career Fair – April 23, 2025
COPA co-sponsored a Citywide Career Fair with several other City of Chicago Agencies and Community Partners at Olive-Harvey College in the Pullman community. The career fair drew in over 400 community members where over 70 employers were sharing their career opportunities. Several workforce development and community organizations with resources were also onsite to support job seekers with employment support services. COPA Interim Chief Administrator LaKenya White, City Clerk Anna Valencia, and George wright CEO of the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership joined us to engage employers and participants. COPA was not only an organizer of the career fair, but we also set up a resource table to provide information on our agency and our role in police accountability.

Earth Day Humboldt Park Clean Up & Celebration – April 26, 2025
COPA co-sponsored the annual Earth Day Humboldt Park Clean Up & Celebration that was celebrating its 40th year. This clean up & celebration brought community together to clean up trash, mulch, and take on several gardening projects in the park. After the clean up there was entertainment, a resource fair connecting community to services, and a warm meal. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.
