COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 04.07.25
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 04.07.25. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Leaders Network Community Monthly Meeting – April 8, 2025
COPA attended the Leaders Network Community Monthly Meeting held in the Austin community that was comprised of faith and community leaders that work together to organize, strategize, and mobilize to improve the quality of life for the west side communities. This meeting included a panel discussion with Deputy Mayors Garien Gatewood, Kenya Merritt, and Khari Humphries. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.
Puerto Rican Cultural Center My Chi. My Future Convener Meeting – April 9, 2025
COPA joined the Puerto Rican Cultural Center (PRCC) for their My Chi. My Future Convener Meeting in Humboldt Park. The PRCC gathers service providers and community partners from the northwest side to share resources, plan activities, and work collectively to end violence while proactively supporting young people. COPA was able to share our role in police oversight and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.
Yes We Can Health and Resource Fair – April 12, 2025
COPA had a great time participating in the Yes We Can Health and Resource Fair at the Instituto del Progreso Latino. This event included several health resources, health screenings, along with local community organizations giving out information on programming. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.
