COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS OF FATAL OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 6500 SOUTH HARVARD AVENUE

CHICAGO – Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials of the officer-involved shooting which occurred on September 19, 2021, near the 6500 Block of South Harvard Avenue in accordance with and in advance of the City’s 60-day Video Release Policy.

Members of the Chicago Police Department were alerted to a request for service regarding a domestic incident. Upon entering the residence, officers questioned one of the occupants. After receiving a description of the incident that led to the 911 call, officers engaged the suspected individual, who was armed with a knife. Officers gave verbal commands to drop the knife which resulted in an officer discharging his firearm, fatally striking the individual.
