COPA RELEASES MATERIALS OF OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 3300 W. IRVING PARK ROAD

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials of the officer-involved shooting that took place on December 11, 2020, near 3300 W. Irving Park Road.

At approximately 10:48pm an off-duty CPD officer was parked and sitting inside his vehicle reported he heard gunshots. The officer exited his vehicle, drew his firearm, and approached two occupants in a vehicle parked behind him. The officer alleged the driver pointed a gun at him, which resulted in the officer discharging his weapon, striking the driver in the hand.

COPA’s investigation into the officer’s use of deadly force is ongoing to determine if the officer’s actions are in accordance with Department Policy.
