Summary Reports:  At the conclusion of every investigation, COPA produces a detailed summary report of the investigation and its findings. Each summary report of investigation will be posted here regardless of the outcome or if discipline was recommended.  Interested in learning how to best read and understand a summary report of investigation?  Review the “How to Read a Summary Report of Investigation” page.

Annual Reports:  By February 15 of each year, COPA will publish an annual report summarizing a year-over-year analysis of key statistics regarding complaint intake, pending case loads, and investigation resolutions.  The annual report will also serve as a year-in-review for the operations of agency.

Quarterly Reports:  By April 15, July 15 and October 15 of each year, COPA will publish a quarterly report summarizing a quarter-over-quarter analysis of key statistics regarding complaint intake, pending case loads, and investigation resolutions.

Policy Reports:  Click here to view the policy recommendations submitted by COPA to the Chicago Police Department.

Advisory Letters:  If during the course of an investigation, COPA (a) uncovers a problem that we believe hinders the effectiveness of CPD’s operations and programs or (b) identifies a verifiable potential liability or risk that warrants attention by CPD, COPA may issue an advisory letter to CPD recommending changes to their policies, procedures, or training.  You can view any such advisory letters issued by COPA here.
