Weekly Spotlight: Puerto Rican Cultural Center My Chi. My Future. Community Holiday Dinner and more

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 12.01.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Humboldt Park and Belmont Cragin communities.

Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Language Access Summit – December 2, 2025

COPA had a great time attending the Language Access Summit organized by Cook County Commissioner Josina Morita. The summit included several breakout sessions where government, nonprofits, community, and private business can learn the way to make language access possible. The summit included a panel with Grace Hou, Illinois Deputy Governor for Health and Human Services, Lanetta Haynes Turner, Chief of Staff for Office of Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and Beatriz Ponce de Leon, Chicago Deputy Mayor for Immigrant, Migrant, and Refugee Rights. The keynote speaker was also Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, that closed out the summit speaking on the importance of making language access possible for Cook County Government.

Puerto Rican Cultural Center My Chi. My Future. Community Holiday Dinner – December 3, 2025

COPA partnered with the Puerto Rican Cultural Center and other community partners to organize a Community Holiday Dinner at the Kelly Hall YMCA. This is the second year of COPA partnering up with the PRCC and our other community partners so that over 100 people can come together to share a warm meal with activities. The dinner included a resource fair component for attendees to gather information on local programming. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on role in police accountability.

Northwest Center My Chi. My Future. Photos with Santa – December 6, 2025

COPA had a great time attending the Northwest Center My Chi. My Future. Photos with Santa event at Steinmetz College Prep. The event included Mayor Brandon Johnson and 30th Ward Alderwoman Ruth Cruz who stopped by to celebrate with members of the community. Attendees had the opportunity to take pictures with Santa and the Grinch; there was also a resource fair component. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments for CPD.
