Weekly Spotlight: New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash & more

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 07.06.26. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Austin, Humboldt Park, and Logan Square communities.

Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Street Priests Community Resource Day – July 8, 2026

COPA had a great time attending the Street Priests Community Resource Day in the Austin community.  The event brought together local resources, this event included showers, activities, food, and a resource fair. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments towards the Chicago Police Department.

Austin Community Discussion – July 9, 2026

COPA had a great time at the Austin Community discussion at the Sankofa Wellness Center in the Austin community. This event included a discussion on the Austin quality of life plan, the viewing of documentary of the neighborhood, and discussions around public safety. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.

New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash – July 10, 2026

COPA attended the New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash in the Humboldt Park community. The bash aims to bring safe spaces for young people and community to enjoy activities, food, and connect to local resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.

Discovering our Roots: Colombian Independence Fest – July 11, 2026

COPA had a great time at the Discovering our Roots: Colombian Independence Fest in the Logan Square community. The fest aims to bring community together and enjoy activities, food, while connecting to local resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.
