Weekly Spotlight: Fellowship On Da Block: Our Freedom in Focus & more

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 06.15.26. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Grand Boulevard, Englewood, Austin, and Fuller Park communities.

Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Cook County Health Juneteenth Health & Resource Fair – June 15, 2026

COPA had a great time attending the Cook County Health and Department of Family and Support Services Community Resource Fair. This fair brough several community organizations to give out information on local programming and included a free meal for participants. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments for CPD.

Budget Engagement Round Tables – Kennedy King College – June 16, 2026

The Office of Mayor Brandon Johnson and Chicago’s Office of Budget and Management organized a series of Budget Engagement Forums across the City to listen to residents about their priorities and ideas for Chicago’s 2027 budget. COPA Chief Administrator LaKenya White facilitated dialogue with Chicagoans and let them share their ideas on any topic relating to the City’s budget.

Black Men United Austin Community Mobilization – June 18, 2026

COPA supported the Black Men United Austin Community mobilization to call for and end to violence in the community. This mobilization allowed community members to receive ice cream, supplies, and connect with various resource vendors. COPA was able to set up a resource table to give out information about our role in police accountability.

Fellowship On Da Block: Our Freedom in Focus – June 19, 2026

COPA had a great time attending the Fellowship On Da Block: Our Freedom in Focus event in the Fuller Park community. Hundreds of Chicagoans came out to enjoy music, food, games, raffles, resources, and small businesses. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on filing complaints and compliments towards CPD.
