  • COPA and the City Clerk Mobile City Hall Community Initiative

    COPA joins Anna Valencia City Clerk Office along with various city departments, sister agencies, aldermanic offices and community organizations for the launch of the new Mobile City Hall. Mobile City Hall will be hosted regionally at various convenient locations throughout Chicago to allow residents access to several city and community services. Residents will also have an opportunity to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the services of City Hall. COPA will share with residents the agency outreach efforts and the role we play in police accountability. Staff will also be available to receive complaints and compliments on members of the Chicago Police Department.

  • Junior Achievement of Chicago Career Day at Aspira Antonio Pantoja High School

    Aspira Antonia Pantoja High School 3121 N. Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL

    Junior Achievement of Chicago host several Career Days throughout the year to help high school students make informed, intelligent decisions about their future, and foster skills that will be highly useful in the business world. Staff from COPA will participate in this upcoming Career Day to help students understand the role of COPA, the importance of police oversight, discuss ways youth can improve positive interactions with law enforcement and explain career paths.

  • 21st Ward, Alderman Brookins Community Town Hall Meeting

    Carter G. Woodson Library 9525 S Halsted St, Chicago, IL

    Join Alderman Howard Brookins Jr. at the 21st Ward Town Hall Meeting and hear what’s new in the ward. Also, learn about what’s coming to Chicago, and get some of those questions answered. While learning how you can help with building a better 21st ward community. This is open to the public.

    The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) plans to visit this DFSS Community Service Center on Thursday, October 3rd to make it easier for residents to file a complaint or compliment a member of the Chicago Police Department.   • Block Club 2019 Convention

    Simeon High School 8147 S. Vincennes, Chicago, IL

    COPA will be present at the Block Club 2019 Convention being held at Simeon High School. Guest speakers include Mayor Lightfoot, Operation PUSH Jonathan Jackson, St. Sabina Father Pfleger, along with several other city and community organizations. COPA staff will be available to explain to the public the role we play in police reform.

  • Leader’s Network

    The Leader’s Network is a gathering of church and community members working together to organize, strategize, and mobilize to improve the quality of life for West side residents and greater Chicago. We believe all people are valuable and for this reason we are committed to social justice and disaster relief both locally and globally, continuing the path of those who have gone before us. COPA will attend to discuss with attendees the role we are playing in police accountability.

  • 15th District Domestic Violence Subcommittee Community Meeting

    15th District Police Station 5701 West Madison Ave, Chicago, IL

    COPA plans to share its mission, vision, outreach efforts and explain its commitment to investigating allegations of domestic violence and sexual misconduct and supporting survivors.

  • Fall Citizen’s Police Academy

    COPA will be one of the speakers at the fall session of the Chicago Police Department’s (CPD) Citizen’s Police Academy to discuss the agency’s mission and the role we play in police reform. The Citizen’s Police Academy is a department-wide strategy designed to educate the community on police operations, build community trust, and improve engagement efforts through department-led training and discussion.

  • COPA Community Hours – South Chicago

    South Chicago Branch - Chicago Public Library 9055 S. Houston, Chicago, IL, United States

    COPA investigators will be on site to receive complaints and compliments of Chicago Police Officers. Also, the staff will address questions and provide an overview of the agency.

  • Public Meetings of the Police Board

    Chicago Public Safety Headquarters 3510 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL, United States

    The Police Board holds a regular public meeting once a month. Members of the public are invited to attend and are welcome to address questions or comments to the Board. The Superintendent of Police (or his designee) and the Chief Administrator of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (or her designee) will be at the meetings. Prior sign-up is required of those wishing to address the Board.

    The meetings are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and take place at the Chicago Public Safety Headquarters.

  • TASC Chatham Parole Office

    COPA will be visiting TASC Chatham parole office to participate in a meeting and join a dialogue on how to help returning citizens overcome barriers to re-entry, building capacity through networking with local and state community constituents and leaders, and communicate with other fellow TASC partnering agencies.

  • 5th Ward, Alderman Leslie Hairston – Monthly Community Meeting

    Alderman Leslie Hairston at the 5th Ward Town Hall Meeting. COPA staff will provide information to educate residents about the agencies investigative process, including answer questions. This event is open to the public.

    COPA will be attending the 3rd District Clergy Community Meeting to connect with faith-based leaders, community members and police to assist with discussing issues that affect the Grand Crossing area.

  • Chicago Police Academy New Recruits Class Presentation

    COPA will visit Catholic Charities on Tuesday, December 3rd to discuss our agency mission and serve supper to 130 hungry and homeless men, women and children.
