COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 9.16.24

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 9.16.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Sankofa Village Wellness Center Groundbreaking – September 16, 2024

COPA attended the Sankofa Village Wellness Groundbreaking in West Garfield Park community. The wellness center is a project of the Garfield Park Right to Wellness Collaborative, a community driven initiative that will offer access to healthcare, mental & behavioral health, a café, fitness facilities, and community spaces. The center will also host programming focused on financial education, workforce development, and be a space for ongoing community development.

Nobel Neighbors Monthly Community Meeting – September 17, 2024

COPA had a great time attending the Nobel Neighbors Community Meeting in the Humboldt Park community. During the summer months this organization holds its meeting at various community organizations in the Humboldt Park area. This meeting was held at The Terminal (1334 N. Kostner Ave), which is a state-of-the-art facility for science and tech entrepreneur communities. Each month COPA looks forward to coming together and connecting with many community stakeholders and residents at these monthly meetings.

Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCSPA) CPD Budget Town Hall  – September 18, 2024
COPA’s attended the budget town hall for CPD by the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) in the South Lawndale community. The town hall was an opportunity for community to give input on how CPD should allocated its resource and voice concerns about their budget.
