COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 7.15.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Nobel Neighbors Monthly Community Meeting – July 16, 2024
COPA had a great time attending the Nobel Neighbors Community Meeting held on July 16, 2024. During the summer months this organization holds its meeting at various community organizations in the Humboldt Park area. For the month of June, the meeting was held at New Life Community Church (1410 N. Springfield), which is a community church providing several supportive services through the New Life centers network including food distribution to the community. Each month COPA looks forward to coming together and connecting with many community stakeholders and residents at these monthly meetings.
Chicago Public School (CPS) Back-to-School Bash at Washington Park – July 16, 2024
COPA had a great time at the CPS Back-to-School Bash in Washington Park. These events are hosted by CPS throughout the city to prepare students and families for the upcoming school year. The bash included school supply giveaways, activities children, several community organizations that were connecting people to resources, and light refreshments. COPA set up a table to provide information about our role in police accountability and how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.
Mobile City Hall at McKinley Park – July 17, 2024
COPA joined the City Clerk’s Office, 12th Ward Alderwoman Julia Ramirez along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this mobile outreach event held in the McKinley Park community, COPA had a resource table and shared with the public the agency’s role in police accountability.
Chicago Public School (CPS) Back-to-School Bash at Columbus Park – July 18, 2024
COPA had a great time at the CPS Back-to-School Bash in Columbus Park. These events are hosted by CPS throughout the city to prepare students and families for the upcoming school year. The bash in the Austin Community included school supply giveaways, activities children, several community organizations that were connecting people to resources, and snacks. COPA set up a table to provide information on how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.
Mary Lyon Summer Fest – July 18, 2024
COPA had a great time at the Mary Lyon Summer Fest in Belmont Cragin. This event included school supply giveaways, student performance games, and a classic car show. Several community organizations were on hand sharing programs and resources. COPA set up a resource table to give out information about our role in police accountability.
Rise Up Community International and Fempreneur Poder Hub Health & Wellness Fair – July 19, 2024
COPA had a great time at the Rise Up Community International and Fempreneur Poder Hub Health & Wellness Fair in Gage Park. COPA was able to set up a resource table to share with residents in this area our agency mission and help them understand the importance of police oversight. The event was filled with children’s activities and several community organizations offering resources.

COPA had a great time at the Chicago Commons Taylor Center for New Experiences Community Resource Fair in Humboldt Park. This event included medical screenings & vaccinations, children’s activities, food, and local community organizations that were sharing resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and provide information about our role in police accountability.
New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash – July 19, 2024
COPA had a great time at the New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash in the Humboldt Park community. The bash included a petting zoo, food, various children’s activities, and local community organizations. COPA was able to set up a resource table with information on how to file compliments & complaints towards CPD as well as our overall role in police oversight.
Peace Palooza – July 19, 2024
COPA joined 4th Ward Alderman Lamont Robinson along with various other city departments & sister agencies at Oakwood Beach for Peace Palooza. This event was created to provide a fun & safe space for young people, families, and the community. Peace Palooza included a lineup of performers, food, children’s activities, giveaways, and several community organizations that were giving our information on youth programming. COPA set up a resource table to give out information about our role in police oversight.
Onward Neighborhood House 4th Annual Health Fair – July 20, 2024
COPA had an amazing time at the Onward Neighborhood House 4th Annual Health Fair in Belmont Cragin. The health fair included medical screenings & vaccinations, children’s activities, grocery distribution, food, and local community organizations that were sharing resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and provide information about our role in police accountability.
Marshall Square Resource Network Peace Party – July 20, 2024
COPA had a lovely time at the Marshall Square Resource Network Peace Party in South Lawndale. The peace party had art activities, food, live music, various children’s activities, and several community partners giving out information on their programming. COPA was able to set up a resource table to give out information on how to file compliments & complaints towards CPD and our role in police oversight.
