COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 4.1.24
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 4.1.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Westside Ministers Coalition Community Meeting – 4.4.24
COPA had a great time attending the Westside Ministers’ Coalition monthly community meeting. This organization mission is to provide services that will initiate self-help efforts to improve the Austin community of Chicago in areas of housing, public safety, reentry, clergy involvement, education, health, energy, conservation, community, youth, and economic development to work in cooperation with other organizations sharing similar values.
City of Chicago Faith Leaders’ Summit Resource Fair – 4.4.24
COPA attended the City of Chicago Faith Leaders’ Summit Resource Fair held at Malcolm X College. The event gathered hundreds of faith leaders from across the city of Chicago representing all faiths. At this outreach event, COPA set up a resource table and shared its agency role in police accountability. Mayor Johnson presented COPA’s partner Leaders Network with an award for their work on the westside of Chicago.
Chicago Park District Teens Opportunity Fair – 4.6.24
On Saturday, April 6th COPA attended the Chicago Park District Teens Opportunity Fair. This fair is part of the Park District’s ongoing engagement to help young people learn about potential jobs and internships and interact with professionals from various organizations. COPA set up a resource table at this event and was able to share with youth our agency job openings and the role that we play in police accountability.
