COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 2.12.24

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 2.12.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Leaders Network Community Meeting – 2.13.24

COPA attended this meeting comprised of faith and community leaders that work togethe    r to organize, strategize, and mobilize to improve the quality of life for the west side communities.

Community New Arrivals Resource & Hiring Fair – 2.14.24

COPA participated in the Cook Workforce Partnership New Arrivals and Community resource and hiring fair. The event had hundreds of participants who had the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of resources available including adult education, ESL and other workforce development programs. Participants also participated in mock interviews and resume workshops.

DFSS Satellite Senior Center – Austin – 2.14.24
COPA visited this DFSS senior center to help residents in this community learn more about our agency mission and vision. During COPA’s visit we provided seniors with an overview of our agency, explained the importance of police oversight, and answered questions that residents had about our agency. 

New Life Centers Humboldt Park Food Pantry – 2.14.24

COPA participated in this food distribution community event to help the public better understand the agency’s mission and explain the importance of police oversight. The event is sponsored by New Life Centers Humboldt Park Campus (3908 W. Hirsch) and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

 DFSS Satellite Senior Center – North Center – 2.15.24
COPA visited this DFSS senior center to help residents in this community learn more about our agency mission and vision. During COPA’s visit we provided seniors with an overview of our agency, explained the importance of police oversight, and answered questions that residents had about our agency.

Belmont Cragin Food Pantry – 2.17.24
COPA partnered with Ss. Genevieve and Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Church for their monthly food pantry to support their incredible work in the community. We were happy to be part of this opportunity to make a positive impact together. COPA provided residents with information about our agency.
