COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 11.6.23

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 11.6.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. COPA in the Community at Budlong Woods Chicago Public Library – 11.9.23
COPA visited this library to help residents in the community learn more about our agency mission and vision. During COPA’s visit we provided the public with an overview of our agency, explained the importance of police oversight, and answered questions that residents had about our agency.

Wilbur Wright College: Community Partners Connect Breakfast– 11.9.23
COPA attended Wilbur Wright City Colleges of Chicago in-person community partners connect meeting that was hosted by the school president, David Potash. At this meeting with Wilbur Wright College, COPA along with various organizations discussed ways to strengthen community partnerships, forge new relationships, and create more accessible pathways for college students.

Intrinsic School Networking Night – 11.9.23
COPA attended Intrinsic School Networking Night for their Juniors and Seniors. Students had an opportunity to learn about career opportunities across a variety of fields including public safety careers like COPA.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Community Care Fair – 11.11.23

COPA attended the Blue Cross Blue Shield Community Care Fair on November 11th. At this outreach event COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct. This resource fair provided the public with access to a number of community organizations and resources.
