COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 07.14.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in the New City, Austin, Humboldt Park, and West Town communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Alderwoman in the Park at Micek Park – July 14, 2024
COPA had a great time attending Alderwoman in the Park at Micek Park hosted by Alderwoman Stephanie D. Coleman. This event organized by Alderwoman Coleman works to bring city services and other community resources directly to the community. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.

Nobel Neighbors Monthly Community Meeting – July 15, 2025
COPA had a great time attending the Nobel Neighbors Community Meeting in the Humboldt Park community. Nobel Neighbors holds its meeting at various community organizations in the Humboldt Park area. This meeting was held at the Edie Jacobs Community Garden, its focus was to address the various issues impacting residents and to find proactive solutions. Several community organizations and local official representatives attend this meeting to give information on resources and community updates. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on our role in police accountability.

Puerto Rican Cultural Center My Chi. My Future Convener Meeting – July 16, 2025
COPA joined the Puerto Rican Cultural Center (PRCC) for their My Chi. My Future Convener Meeting in Humboldt Park. The PRCC gathers service providers and community partners from the northwest side to share resources, plan activities, and work collectively to end violence while proactively supporting young people. COPA was able to share our role in police oversight and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.

Take Back the Block – Austin – July 18, 2025
COPA had joined Mayor Brandon Johnson at the Take Back the Block activation in the Austin community. City agencies were on hand to support resident requests; there were also resources and activities. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on filing complaints and compliments towards CPD.
Beloved Community Bash – July 18, 2025
COPA attend the New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash at Harding Park in the Humboldt Park community. The bash aims to bring safe spaces for young people and community to enjoy activities, food, and connect to local resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.
Mobile City Hall Kick Off at St. Aloysius Thiele Center – July 19, 2025
COPA joined City Clerk Anna Valencia and other officials for the Mobile City Hall Kick Off at the St. Aloysius Thiele Center in the West Town community. The City Clerk’s office, along with various other city departments, were onsite to connect city services directly to the community including obtaining a City Key ID, city stickers, and other permits. COPA was able to set up a resource table and share with the public the agency’s role in police accountability.
