Weekly Spotlight: Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and more

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 09.15.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in Humboldt Park, South Chicago, Lower West Side, Pullman, Jefferson Park, and Logan Square communities.

Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Nobel Neighbors Monthly Community Meeting – September 16, 2025

COPA had a great time attending the Nobel Neighbors Community Meeting in the Humboldt Park community. Nobel Neighbors holds its meeting at various community organizations in the Humboldt Park area. This meetings focus was to address the various issues impacting residents and to find proactive solutions. Several community organizations and local official representatives attend this meeting to give information on resources and community updates. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on our role in police accountability.

Alderwoman Michelle A. Harris Senior Event – September 17, 2025

COPA had a great time attending Alderwoman Michelle A. Harris Senior Event at Sweet Holy Spirit Church in the South Chicago Community. The event included food, presentations, and local resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments for CPD.

Chicago is With You Taskforce Meeting – September 17, 2025

COPA attended the Chicago is With You Taskforce Monthly Meeting. The Chicago is With You Task Force, is a collaborative community outreach effort aimed at connecting immigrant and refugee communities to mental health, legal services, as well as providing diversity training for employers & educational institutions and is chaired by City Clerk Anna Valencia. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on our role in police accountability and how to file compliments & complaints towards CPD.

Women’s Empowerment Seminar – September 18, 2025

COPA had a great time attending Women’s Empowerment Seminar at Olive-Harvey College in the Pullman community. The seminar that was organized by the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County’s office included a self-defense and domestic violence presentation along with local community resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.

City Clerk’s Mobile City Hall – Northwest – September 20, 2025
COPA joined City Clerk Anna Valencia and other officials for the Mobile City Hall at the Branch Church in the Jefferson Park community. The City Clerk’s office, along with various other city departments, were onsite to connect city services directly to the community including obtaining a City Key ID, city stickers, and other permits. COPA was able to set up a resource table and share with the public the agency’s role in police accountability.

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration – September 20, 2025
COPA had a great time at the Tierra Colombiana Dance Ensemble Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Mozart Park in the Logan Square community. The event included performances, children’s activities, food, and local resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments for CPD.
