SUMMARY:Community Conversation: Community Mediation Program - Area 1
DESCRIPTION:The Community Mediation Program (CMP)\, now administered by the Civilian Office for Police Accountability (COPA)\, is transitioning into the third phase of the pilot.  COPA will host a community conversation in each of CPD’s five areas to provide community stakeholders an opportunity to give input and feedback on program policy\, operations and staffing community mediators using a deliberative style of dialogue.  The event invites participants to co-author a community mediation program that meets the needs of the residents\, framed by an acknowledgment of community perspectives of accountability\, fairness and justice.  The engagement will focus on collaboration to form a collective consensus on program efficiencies and ways it will aid in building community trust and furthering the effort to create safer communities\, accountability and transparency in the interactions with members of the CPD. The meeting for Area 1 will take place on March 31\,2025 from 6pm – 7:30pm at Blackstone Library 4904 S. Lake Park Ave Chicago\, IL 60615. RSVP at RSVP HERE. RSVP required.
